Beauties on Fire: Night Out

Hi everyone! It’s been a hot minute since I last took part in a Beauties on Fire theme collab! Actually, it’s also been a while since I posted a look/tutorial. Anyway, I’m back and ready for this month’s theme, Night Out! I decided to show how to transition a day look into a night look.

First up, here’s what my makeup looks like after work. It’s been on for over 12 hours at this point, so my under eye area is getting a bit creased and my BB cream is fading. My nose is also super dry right now and it looks kind of peely. I do also have some spots from where my glasses sit on my nose.

Step one: Give your skin a boost with a spray. I’m using the Smashbox primer water, which hydrates my skin and primes without me needing to touch my face and possibly rub away what’s already there. It gives me a dewy, healthy finish instantly.

Step two: Reapply base makeup as needed, using light coverage, easy-to-apply formulas. I went in with my Nyx Dark Circle Corrector (review here) because that’s the only concealer I use on my undereye. I topped it off with the Cover Girl CG Smoothers BB cream. This is very light coverage but gives my skin a natural, perfected finish and is more hydrating. I also applied this on my nose and my jawline/chin area.

Step four: Touch up/add powders as needed. I set my undereye with a loose powder and reapplied the Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso. As I normally don’t wear highlighters during the day, I decided to go bold for the night look, and chose the Nyx Duochromatic Illuminating Powder in Twilight Tint.

Step five: Enhance your eyes. This deals a lot with what you normally wear and what you’re comfortable doing, but I usually go all-out. I’m turning my neutral shimmery day look into a smoked-out blue cat eye. I’ve just really been into dark blues and greens and navies lately for the eyes.

I’m using a bunch of Urban Decay shades from the Shadow Box, Ammo and Smoked Palettes. Some of these shades can be found in other palettes, but I don’t know about all of them. I originally had Freestyle as a transition shade and Chopper and Sin on my lids, along with a dainty wing.

I used a medium brown shimmer called Lost to darken my crease and lower lashline.

Then I added the showstopper, Moonflower, to my upper lashline and the inner corner crease, which is a really fun spot for color.

Step 5A: I thickened my wing and lined my waterline and inner corner, making sure not to let the two touch and instead dragging the inner corner down slightly into a point. You can definitely tightline and apply falsies, but I normally don’t go for either.

Step six: Choose a bold liquid lipstick to stand up to whatever you’ll be doing. I love a classic red like the Stila liquid lip in Beso. I’m super picky about red lips, and this has the perfect undertone and intensity. The formula is also very thin and workable, which I prefer as it doesn’t get too thick, and it’s also comfortable and not very drying.

And there you go! Fast, fun makeup from what you already had on! If I was in a rush, I could easily just grab an eyeliner pencil and the liquid lippie and be done with it (If I was really in a rush I’d probably just go as-is).
