Empties #2

Hey guys! I’ve got a bunch of goodies that are finally empty. My last post was about Mid-November, and I’ve gone through plenty of other things! I also was at home for about a month on winter break, and finished up a few products there but wasn’t able to take pictures of them. And then I managed to use about a million packets.

First up is hair products. I don’t use much on my hair, so there’s not much in this section.

I used the Amika Nourishing Mask, which I got from a subscription box in the fall. It was a decent mask, but I’m not crazy about masks most of the time because I usually use my conditioner in a similar way and don’t agree with the “use once a week” directions when I only wash my hair 1-2 times a week.

Would I repurchase? Only if I was planning on bleaching my tips again and needed a bit extra conditioning.

Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri-Wheat Leave-in Conditioner is something I really like. I bought it forever ago and love that it also doubles as a detangler.

Would I repurchase? I already bought a replacement before I ran out.

Skincare products with all the packets:

Dr Jart+ Ceramidin cream – another sample from Birchbox. I do agree that this is a very moisturizing formula; however, it’s more of a thicker formula that seems like I need to use more product to work into my skin, so maybe it was from that? Towards the end, I ended up using this mostly at night and especially on dry patches on my face.

Would I repurchase? Probably not. It’s a good moisturizer, but I want to discover more products. The price is a bit high for just a decent product.

Jane Iredale HandDrink is more of a body product, since it’s a hand cream, but I’ll just stick it in here. I wasn’t crazy over the scent – it was very perfume-like and strong for being just a hand cream, and I’d rather have light scents.

Would I repurchase? No.

The Ole Henrickssen Ultimate Lift Eye Cream packet isn’t actually empty – I tried using this packet two or three times, but it stung a bit and felt like my skin was too sensitive. My skin is rarely sensitive to things, but I notice it more around my eyes than anywhere else.

Would I repurchase? No.

The Goodal Phytowash Yerba Mate Cleansing Foam was something I got in last month’s Birchbox. When I would rinse this out, my skin would squeak from my hands running across it, but my skin never felt stripped and tight. Not sure what’s up with that.

Would I repurchase? No – I don’t want to strip my skin.

The Goodal Phytowash Yerba Mate Bubble Peeling was a fun product. Still not sure what a “peeling” is, but this is a foaming exfoliator. I really did like this.

Would I repurchase? Yes.

Honestly, I don’t remember much about the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Hydra-Firm Sleeping Cream. I used it in December, and probably only got 2-3 uses out of this.

Would I repurchase? I think I’d want to try it again.

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant is a powder that you wet and make into a paste. It has both mechanical and chemical exfoliants but isn’t harsh at all (I can’t imagine anyone overscrubbing with this). I liked this, both because it works nicely, and because I’m pretty certain I got over a week’s use out of the packet.

Would I repurchase? Yes, but at $57, the bottle is a bit expensive and I’m currently kind of broke. Granted, the bottle will probably last me a year.

I got four Dermalogica Overnight Clearing Gel packets and am currently using the fourth. Only two are in the picture – I finished the first one at home over break and don’t have it to photograph. These do seem to make a difference on my acne. Some of the zits look clearer overnight, and parts of my face seem to be clearing up with no new breakouts (knock on wood).

Would I repurchase? Yes.

Again, the 100% Pure Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream was finished off over winter break. It was an okay cream, but I’ve used some that are better (I have horrible dark circles and a bit of puffiness).

Would I repurchase? No.

I got a gel moisturizer sample from Hada Labo in an online Ulta purchase ages ago, and only got around to trying it out over break. It was nice and pretty moisturizing, but I can’t remember too much else.

Would I repurchase? Probably not.

And onto the makeup!

The Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimiser was a sample from my TBS online order. It seemed to be decent but nothing spectacular. After trying multiple products from the  Tea Tree line, I have to admit that it doesn’t do much of anything for my acne.

Would I repurchase? No.

Maybelline Fit Me! Pressed Powder in 120 and 225. I know what you’re thinking. These two shades seem a bit far apart, but their numbering system is a bit weird and I bought one for a winter shade and one for summer. And then I got so close to the end with the summer shade that I kept on wearing it.

Would I repurchase? Yes, I already have others.

I managed to finish off this travel-sized Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. Eye primers last forever and I used this primer for months.

Would I repurchase? I bought a full-sized one back in the fall.

The Too Faced Better than Sex mascara was pretty nice. I first thought it was just okay, but slowly warmed up to it. I’d have a couple mascaras open at the same time, and ended up using this one more often than not.

Would I repurchase? If it was on sale.

And then the Benefit Gimme Brow! in Light/Medium. I wasn’t sure which shade to get, and after buying other brow gels I think I’m more of the Medium/Dark range. But of the three gels I’ve tried, this is my favorite formula and wand. It’s also the smallest and most expensive.

Would I repurchase? Definitely if on sale, if not, possibly.

That’s all my empties for now! I think I’ll probably make empties posts every 2-3 months so that I accumulate enough interesting products for you all.
